WordPress 2.0
Upgrading to WordPress 2.0 seems to have gone well.
The new admin interface theme looks a bit nicer, but I’m more interested in some of the polish that has gone in: subtle use of Javascript here and there, being able to add categories while writing a post, etc. I think Owen Winkler summed it up pretty well.
Only thing really bothering me is why I need to get a WordPress API key, and thus create a blog at WordPress.com, in order to use the bundled Akismet anti-spam plugin. Maybe I misunderstood the proces, but lots of people run their blogs on their own webhosting or server, and I don’t feel like taking up another username (and even subdomain?) on a site I don’t use otherwise.
I’m really satisfied with WordPress otherwise, though. Respect.
Update: Okay, it looks like the upgrade messed up Planet Ubuntu NL, giving me a bit too much attention. Sorry!
I hope some WordPress users will see this, watch out while upgrading the 2.0. The feed has changed slightly, specifically, the GUIDs are no longer just the same as permalinks like in 1.5.
